Free Sandbags Available in Flood-Prone Areas

Fall has arrived and it’s time to prepare for storm season!

Seattle Public Utilities is offering a limited number of FREE filled sandbags to households and business owners in flood-prone areas.

If you have experienced flooding in or around your home, you may want to consider using sandbags. While they don’t seal out water, sandbags can help redirect the flow of water and protect property. (Just remember to use them with caution—it’s illegal to divert water to neighboring properties.)

Households or businesses can pick up sandbags any time (up to 25 per household/business), while supplies last, at the following locations:

Delridge Community Center
4501 Delridge Way SW
Seattle, WA 98106

South Park Neighborhood
731 S. Sullivan
Seattle, WA 98108

Helene Madison Pool
13401 Meridian N
Seattle, WA 98133

Meadowbrook Community Center
10517 35th Ave. NE
Seattle, WA 98125

Reminder: Sandbags are heavy! They weigh about 40 lbs each. Questions? Go to www.seattle.gov/util/storm and click on Storm Season Preparation or contact Ty Barrett at (206) 615-1149 or ty.barrett@seattle.gov.
