MLK Collections Schedule  

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, some customers in Seattle will be on a one-day delayed collection schedule. Transfer stations will be open this MLK Day. 

If you are in this service area:

  • Northeast Seattle (east of I-5, north of Ship Canal) 
  • Central Seattle (north of I-90, south of Ship Canal) 
Map that indicates the service area that will be impacted by MLK Week collection delay: east of I-5, north of the Ship Canal, and Central Seattle, south of Ship Canal and north of I-90, including Northgate, U-District, Capitol Hill,  Downtown, Chinatown-International District, Magnolia, and Queen Anne.

You will have your garbage, recycling, and yard/food waste collections on a one-day delay beginning Monday, January 15 through Saturday, January 20.  

Customers normally collected on Monday will now be collected on Tuesday, with Tuesday customers on Wednesday, and so on with Friday customers now being collected on Saturday.  

Set your carts out on your adjusted collection day.  

If you are in this service area:

  • Northwest Seattle (west of I-5, north of Ship Canal) 
  • West Seattle 
  • South Seattle (south of I-90) 

Collections will be as normal on Monday, January 15 and through the week.

Customers can receive reminders of recycle, compost, and garbage pickup days, report a missed collection, change cart sizes, and look up where to dispose of items by downloading the Recycle It App.
