SPU at Summer Festivals

Staff from Seattle Public Utilities and Bert the Salmon and Evelyn the Envelope will be at festivals throughout the city this summer.

Look for us at the following events:

There will be lots of things to learn about, including the following:

Combined Sewer Overflow Reduction Program – During heavy rains, pipes that carry combined stormwater and sewage can overflow and threaten the quality of our waterways. Find out how Seattle is developing a long-term plan to reduce these overflows.

Restore Our Waters – Discover what we all can do to improve the health of our waterways.

RainWise – Learn how adding rain gardens, cisterns and other natural drainage elements to your property can lessen the harmful impacts of stormwater.

Practice Natural Lawn Care – Make the change to using fewer pesticides and reduce harmful runoff.

Explore Creek Stewardships – Become a volunteer and protect an important part of Seattle’s natural drainage system.

Stencil a Storm Drain – Let your community know that pollutants flow from our storm drains to our local waterways.

Prevent FOG Clogs – Pouring fats, oils and grease (FOG) from cooking down the drain can cost you thousands of dollars.

Adopt-A-Drain – Connect with our volunteer program, and help prevent flooding and improve water quality.

Prevent and Prepare for Flooding on Your Property – Find resources to help protect your property and prepare for the winter storm season.

Participate in an Advisory Committee – Make your word heard and ensure that our programs, policies and services are responsive to community needs.
