A Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) program that encourages Ballard residents to help slow the flow of stormwater in their neighborhood was featured on KING-5 News.
Under SPU’s RainWise pilot program, eligible Ballard residents can get incentives for installing rain gardens or cisterns – which help to stem the flow of stormwater during heavy rains – in their yards. In extreme weather, stormwater runoff can flood homes, cause sewer overflows, and erode hillsides and streambanks.
SPU has created a Web site where residents can learn more about the program and find out if they qualify for incentives.
