Stenciling Drains Helps Protect Lakes and Streams

Protecting local streams, creeks and lakes can be as simple as volunteering to stencil storm drains in your neighborhood.

When it rains, some storm drains flow directly into Puget Sound or the nearest stream or lake, carrying the hazardous chemicals, pesticides, paints, antifreeze and used motor oil illegally poured down storm drains.

You can help keep pollutants out of storm drains by volunteering to stencil storms drains with the message:

Dump No Waste
Drains to Stream, Lake or Bay

Individuals, families, businesses and community organizations can volunteer to stencil storm drains by calling Carlton Stinson, Storm Drain Stenciling Coordinator, at 206-684-7624. You will receive a stenciling kit as well as instructions on how to use the kit. Learn more.
