Snow May Delay Solid Waste Collection

Looks Like It's Snowing! Here's What To Do With Your Collection Carts. 1. Set your collection carts out and leave them out the following day. 2. If they haven't been collected by the end of the following day, bring them in and set them back out on your next collection day—you can then set out 2x as much for no extra charge.

You might have noticed it’s snowing today and that means the Seattle area may experience some delays in service. This blog will keep you updated with all you need to know for your garbage, recycling, and food/yard collection and possible delays.

If we experience interrupted collection services due to snow, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Stay up to date with delays and rescheduled collections on our website and by following us on social media.
  • When in doubt, set out your carts and leave them out throughout the following day.
  • If your carts have not been collected by the end of that following day, bring them in and set them out on your next scheduled collection day.
  • If your carts have not been collected from the previous week due to weather, you can set out double amounts on your next collection day for no extra charge.

In the event of any inclement weather – snow, ice, heat, or smoke – city emergency planners urge residents to be prepared. For up-to-date information pertaining to impacts in the City of Seattle, please sign up for alerts at  AlertSeattle
