Seattle Public Utilities’ North and South Transfer Stations are now temporarily closed on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays.
Transfer Stations are open Wednesday – Saturday for essential trips – urgent and perishable waste only – to reduce potential spread of COVID-19.
- DO NOT visit if you have a cough, fever, shortness of breath, sore throat or sore muscles
- Bring only urgent and perishable waste – that is waste that will rot, cause odor, attract pests (food, diapers) or poses another public health risk.
- Please do not use other local transfer stations as they are supporting their own local customer essential needs
If you must visit for an essential reason:
- Be sure to have waste bagged and secured
- Practice social/physical distancing by keeping at least 6 feet of space on the floor
- Stay in your vehicle while waiting at our scales & pay with card
You can set out extra garbage at your residence for a fee. Be sure to bag your garbage securely. You can also change your cart size and request special item pickup. Learn more on our blog post.
Note: Major commercial customers with RFID access will continue to have access to South Station on Sunday and to both North and South Stations on Monday and Tuesdays.
Seattle Public Utilities is monitoring the situation and will notify the public if changes to our services occur. Stay up to date by visiting our website and following us on Twitter.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
