Felix Hernandez Compost Container Giveaway Today

kitcatchbucketTo celebrate their composting success, Seattle Public Utilities and the Seattle Mariners are offering free kitchen compost containers to Seattle residents to help store and carry kitchen scraps to their food and yard waste carts.

Today, Wednesday, February 26  at 11 am,  Seattle residents who pledge to recycle and compost will receive a collector’s edition Felix Hernandez Kitchen Caddy at the following locations:

 

SE Seattle
Seattle Tilth – Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands 5513 S Cloverdale St, Seattle, WA 98118
SE Neighborhood Service Center – 3815 S Othello St., Suite 105, Seattle 98118

SW Seattle

SW Neighborhood Service Center – 2801 SW Thistle St., Seattle 98106

Downtown

Supplies are limited. The giveaway is limited to one kitchen container per Seattle household.

Last year, Seattle residents helped divert more than 125,000 tons of food scraps and yard debris from the landfill through composting. Fans at Safeco Field helped recycle or compost more than 90 percent of their waste.
