What to do when you have too much stuff?

Simply put additional recyclables in sturdy bins or boxes next to your recycling cart on your regular collection day. Remember to flatten empty cardboard boxes and do not put recyclables inside of bags.

Extra yard waste is charged $4.75 for each additional 32-gallon container or 4 feet by 2 feet bundle set out beside your city-provided cart. Bundles must be tied with natural fiber twine. No food waste is allowed in these extra units. See suggestions for containers for extra yard waste.

Put extra garbage in a plastic bag or your own garbage can (up to 32 gallons), and put it next to your regular garbage. Customers are charged $10 for each extra bag, bundle or can.

Bulky items, such as a couch, dishwasher or mattress, can be collected for $30, or $38 per item for items containing CFCs (such as refrigerators). These are the same rates for sedans, station wagons, and sport utility vehicles at the dump, so save yourself the trip and call 206-684-3000 to schedule a collection.
