Last year, Seattle businesses and residents diverted more than 125,000 tons of food and yard waste from the landfill by composting.
As a reminder, only organic material is allowed in your food and yard waste cart.
Plastic bags, milk cartons, coffee cups and ice cream cartons go in your recycling cart, because they contain small amounts of plastic coating.
