Collection of garbage, recycling, and food and yard waste can also be impacted. Vegetation that overhangs alleys and streets must allow at least 14 feet of overhead clearance for collection trucks. Street-level vegetation encroaching on the alleyway must also be trimmed back to the property line. If your alley or street is inaccessible you will receive a notice to trim the overgrowth of vegetation. Failure to comply may result in fines and possibly the cost of removal of the overgrowth.
