Seattle Public Utilities and PRR, Inc. have been recognized by the Puget Sound Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) with a Totem Award for Community Relations for their “Better Recycling” campaign.
The aim of the 2009 “Better Recycling” campaign was to educate Seattle businesses and residents about important changes to their solid waste services. Seattle now diverts more than 50 percent of all its waste from the landfill through recycling, composting and reuse.

This year, 68 entries were submitted. A total of 13 Totem Awards and 12 Certificates of Excellence were presented.
