Protecting Seattle Water at its source and ensuring that it remain “pure from the start” is an around-the-clock, daily operation. It involves a skilled team of watershed protection inspectors, water system operators, water quality analysts, water pipe workers, water resource managers, engineers, planners, educators, conservationists, and many more drinking water experts.
During Source Water Protection Week, Sep 27 – Oct 3, Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is taking the time to thank the more than 350 people at our utility who oversee one of our most precious natural resources – drinking water. Our dedicated Seattle Water team is responsible for ensuring that every time the 1.6 million people in the greater Seattle area turn on their taps they receive, clean, protected and great-tasting Seattle Water – pure from the start.
As we celebrate Source Water Protection Week, SPU invites the public to learn more about the source of their drinking water. Come visit the Cedar River Watershed Education Center, located 35 east of Seattle in North Bend, where you’ll enjoy a host of free activities, exhibits, and tours inside the watershed – the source of Seattle Water.
