With wet weather and winter high tides approaching, Seattle Public Utilities is providing continued support for South Park recovery from December’s high tide inundation.
Large concrete blocks, Jersey barriers, and/or sandbags are still located on public property to reduce possible Duwamish River flooding but driveways are open. On February 20 and 21, a high tide period, SPU will have standby crews ready to adjust flood protection measures, if needed.
While showers and laundry are still available on site, we anticipate adjustments in the next few weeks as winter winds down. We’re also continuing to provide housing assistance to impacted South Park residents through March.
As always, being prepared for emergencies is important. If you experience flooding, please make sure people and pets are safe. If it is a life-threatening emergency, please call 911. For urgent, but not life-threatening flooding, please call SPU’s 24/7 Operations Response Center at (206) 386-1800.
