In advance of the next King Tides (Jan 23, 6:46 AM; Jan 24, 7:22 AM; Jan 25, 7:57 AM), the City has provided South Park with temporary flood protections. Seattle Public Utilities (SPU), in partnership with Seattle Department of Transportation and Finance and Administrative Services has:
- placed large concrete blocks, jersey barriers and/or sandbags on public property to reduce Duwamish River flooding
- provided sandbags to private property owners and supplied a sandbag pick-up location at 731 S. Sullivan
- Designed pump and bypass systems to pump water back into the river from selected locations
Thank you to our community partners and local businesses which helped implement on-the-ground solutions in partnership with the City.
Seattle Public Utilities is monitoring upcoming weather forecasts and will have key staff in South Park during the upcoming King tide events.
