*There will be no collection delays for Friday Customers in observance for Christmas and New Year’s Day. Friday Customers set out carts on Friday for normal collection.*
With the holiday season just around the corner, we want to remind you of changes to your solid waste services for the upcoming holidays.
Garbage, recycling, and food & yard waste will not be collected on the following holidays:
- Thanksgiving (11/25/2021)
- Christmas (12/25/2021)
- New Year’s Day (1/1/2022)
On those days, and for the remainder of the week, service will be delayed one day.
2021 Holiday Collection Schedule:
Pick Up Day | Moved To |
Thurs, Nov 25 | Fri, Nov 26 |
Fri, Nov 26 | Sat, Nov 27 |
For example, if your regular collection day is Thursday, November 25 (Thanksgiving), you should put your containers out on Friday, November 26. If your regular collection day is Friday, put your containers out on Saturday, November 27.
There will be no collection delays on Christmas and New Year’s Day since they fall on a Saturday.
The City of Seattle’s North and South Transfer Stations will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.
As we move into the winter season, inclement weather may impact your collection services. Icy roads and snow may prevent Seattle Public Utilities’ contracted haulers from collecting garbage, recycling, or food & yard waste. With collection trucks weighing up to 30 tons, safely navigating icy streets and hills becomes increasingly difficult.
