Update: SPU investigating odor in Georgetown

On September 7 and 8, Seattle Public Utilities’ Spill Response team investigated a strong chemical odor coming from the sewer system in the Georgetown area.

They located the odor’s source in the area of Corgiat Dr. S and S Graham Street, and worked with partners from other agencies to notify the business of the issue.  Upon notification, the business (who has permits for sewer system discharges) immediately stopped discharging.

SPU and agency partners will continue to ensure long term compliance by the business, to monitor the business’ discharges and to evaluate enforcement options for the violations that occurred.
