Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facilities to Reopen with New Hours

Starting May 15, Seattle Public Utilities Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection facilities will reopen with reduced hours.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the sites temporarily closed to follow public health guidance to limit the spread of the coronavirus and keep our frontline workers safe and healthy.

Both sites normally are open to the public three days a week. Sites will reopen only two days a week.

The following will be the new hours of operation:

  • The South Seattle collection site, located at 8100 2nd Ave. S. in Seattle, will be open from 9:30 a.m to 4:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday only.
  • The North Seattle collection site, located at 12550 Stone Ave. N. in Seattle, will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Sunday and Monday only.

Hazardous Waste Management Program urges customers to follow the Governor’s “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order- and to hold on to hazardous waste items that don’t require immediate disposal. If it is essential to make a trip to a household hazardous waste disposal site, make sure to stay at least six feet from other customers and employees. If you are sick or exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, or if someone in your household is ill, do not visit our facilities. These measures are recommended with the public’s health in mind as well as for the health and safety of Hazardous Waste collection staff. Visit hazwastehelp.org for the latest updates. If you have questions please call 206-296-4692 or haz.waste@kingcounty.gov.
