Solid Waste Pickup Update

Updated 2/19/19 at 2:15 p.m.

Curbside Collection Update:
We are returning to regular our collection schedule this week.

If your collection was missed last week you may put out extras this week at no additional charge. (See tips for putting out extras below.) If your recycling was missed last week, please put it out this week (even if it is not your scheduled recycling week). We will make every attempt to collect it.

If your collection is missed this week please report it online at www.seattle.gov/util/missedcollection or call us at 206-684-3000. You can report a missed garbage, recycling, or yard waste collection after 6:00 p.m. on the day it was missed. It will be picked up within 2 working days.

Bill Credits for 2+ Weeks Missed Collection:
We will provide a $10 billing credit to residential customers who had two or more missed garbage collections due to inclement weather. The credit will be issued within two regular billing cycles for impacted customers, which are primarily customers with Monday service. Any impacted customers who do not see a billing credit of $10 within two billing cycles should reach out to us at www.seattle.gov/util/EmailUs or (206) 684-3000.

Tips for Putting Out Extras

  • Put extra garbage in a plastic bag or your own garbage can (up to 32 gallons), and put it next to your regular garbage. The maximum weight for extra garbage is 60 pounds per unit.
  • Put the extra recycling in a cardboard box or paper bag and place it next to your recycling cart.
  • For any yard waste that does not fit in the cart supplied by the City, you can use:
    • A 32-gallon can with handles, purchased from a home or garden store. Label your can “yard waste,” and fill it loosely, so it will empty easily.
    • Bundles, tied with fiber twine (do not use wire, nylon cording, or plastic banding).
    • Kraft paper bags, available at home and garden retailers.
