Cleaning Green

household cleaner with rubber gloves bucket and sponge..There are many products out there that are good for the environment and by using these products we can maintain our health and hygiene. Cleaners containing toxic chemicals can harm your health and even more harm the environment.

Products with a “Caution” or “Warning” label carry moderate levels of hazardous chemicals so it is best to avoid them.  If there are leftover bottles of toxic products then dispose of them properly.  Avoid any products marked “Poison” or “Danger” which contain the highest levels of hazardous chemicals.

However there are many green alternatives to these cleaning products. Some solutions are Murphy’s Oil, baking soda, vinegar, and salt. With the correct combination of these ingredients a  non-toxic cleaner can easily be made at home.

For example a window or mirror cleaner only needs a spray bottle filled with ¼ cup of vinegar and water.

Being clean and healthy is essential to life and in taking the green approach we are also protecting our environment.
