Seattle garbage service, recycling and compost collection is expected to be unaffected by reported picketing at Republic Services facilities in Seattle, Lynnwood and Kent. Seattle residents are asked to put out their solid waste materials on their regular schedule.
According to news reports, the picketing is a show of solidarity for striking workers in Ohio.
Residential garbage, recycling and compost in Seattle is collected by two different companies: Waste Management and CleanScapes. Republic Services collects some business recycling in the Seattle, and processes the city’s recycled materials at the company’s recycling facility, at 3rd Avenue and Lander Street.
Anne Laughlin, spokesperson for Republic Services, said the company is operating on schedule today, and that its Seattle recycling facility is fully operational. Laughlin said Republic is servicing commercial accounts as normal, on schedule in the city of Seattle.
“We encourage customers to visit www.RepublicServicesNW.com and click on their community in the drop-down tab at the center of the page. There they will find service updates throughout the day and evening,” Laughlin said.
