June 28: Battery Recycling Day

Designed to educate consumers and communities on the importance and ease of battery recycling, Call2Recyclehas designated Thursday, June 28, as rechargeable battery recycling day in Seattle.  Area residents and organizations are encouraged to scour their attics, junk drawers, and desks, and bring their rechargeable batteries to the Seattle Center International Fountain for a chance to be rewarded with prizes in addition to doing their part for the environment.

Events scheduled for the day:

Collection Drive: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm. Call2Recycle’s battery truck will be on-hand to collect rechargeable batteries. Prizes will be awarded for bringing rechargeable batteries and cellphones to be recycled.

Meet KJR Radio Personality: Noon – 2:00 pm. DJ Jodi Brothers will be broadcasting live from the collection event and giving away prizes.

Mariner’s Autograph Session: 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Seattle Mariner Michael Sunders will be signing autographs and helping fans recycle their batteries.

Meet Senator Sharon Nelson and Representative Steve Tharinger: 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. State legislators will be receiving commendations from Call2Recycle for their commitment to help raise battery recycling awareness in their communities and the state.
