Seattle Channel features segment on new ordinance.
Remember to shop with a reusable bag to carry home your purchases! July 1 is the day all Seattle retail stores – from groceries to department stores – must stop handing out lightweight plastic bags. They’ll be charging you 5 cents for large paper bags, too. That’s a reminder that the best way to shop, with the least impact on the environment, is by carrying a reusable bag.
The Seattle Channel recently featured a segment about what the new city ordinance means to customers and retailers. Included is a panel discussion with City Councilmember Mike O’Brien; Alann Hamada, Director of Uwajimaya; Tony D’Onofrio, Sustainability Director of Town and Country Markets; and Robb Krehbiel of Environment Washington.
