Young people around Seattle will be learning for the next eight weeks that oil leaks from cars are harming Puget Sound. First-time drivers will get the message in a number of ways – radio, online and at their schools.
As a way to have an authentic message, Seattle Public Utilities, with a grant from Washington Department of Ecology, held a competition with local students to create campaign materials, including videos. The students are members of Washington DECA at four high schools in Seattle: Ballard, Garfield, Roosevelt and West Seattle.
The campaign message is simple: Fix That Leak! Oil and Water Don’t Mix.
The winning video from Ballard High School is featured on KUBE 93 and the campaign partners’ YouTube site.
The campaign partners include: Seattle Public Utilities, Washington Department of Ecology, Washington DECA, and South Seattle Community College.
