Tomorrow is Free Compost Friday

Cedar Grove Composting and Seattle Public Utilities will kick off Compost Days tomorrow, Friday, April 1 with a free giveaway of 500 bags of compost to Seattle residents.

City of Seattle residents can pick up one (1) free bag of compost starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 1, 2011, at El Centro De la Raza. The giveaway will run through 3 p.m. or until all 500 compost bags have been given away.

Residents who cannot make the free compost giveaway on Friday can still participate in Compost Days, April 1-30, 2011. During Compost Days, Cedar Grove is providing coupons for big discounts, including:

Coupons have also been distributed to 300,000 City of Seattle homes through Seattle Public Utilities CurbWaste & Conserve newsletter. Coupons are also available in the Pacific Northwest Magazine of the Sunday Seattle Times and at www.seattletimes.com during the month of April.

Compost Days is a “thank you” to Seattle residents for helping Seattle divert almost 80,000 tons of food and yard waste from the landfill to curbside composting in 2010.
