Old Growth Forest Hike

Explore old growth forests with the Cedar River Watershed Institute on Saturday, August 21, from 9 am – 4 pm.

The field trip, Old Growth Forests of the Cedar River Watershed, will be led by watershed botanist, Clay Antieau.

On this 2-3 mile hike, you’ll see the diverse, inspiring old growth forest ecosystems preserved at the watershed.  You’ll also learn why old growth forests are important and what the City of Seattle is doing to manage second-growth forests so they function more like older forests. Bring lunch and something to drink, dress for the weather, wear hiking boots, and be prepared to walk in mountainous terrain.

The hike is for participants ages 15 years and older and costs $15. To register, contact the program reservation line at 206-233-1515 or email CRWprograms@seattle.gov.
