It’s Time for Spring Clean!

SpringClean Postcard for SMCity-Sponsored Community Cleanup Event Runs April–May 2016

SEATTLE — Spring is just around the corner, and so is Spring Clean, Seattle’s premier community cleanup program.

Spring Clean, now in its 30th year, runs from April 1 through May 31. During Spring Clean, Seattle residents participate in activities like picking up litter, stenciling storm drains to protect salmon from polluted water, painting out graffiti, and removing invasive plants from planting strips and traffic circles.

“Every year, neighbors pitch in to keep Seattle beautiful,” said Mayor Ed Murray. “Working together, we are protecting our natural environment, supporting public safety and improving the quality of life in our community.”

Seattle Public Utilities supports volunteers with FREE bags, gloves, safety vests, and waste disposal. All projects are conducted on public property. Get started today! Call (206) 233-7187, or register online at www.seattle.gov/util/SpringClean.

Small Sparks Fund
The Seattle Department of Neighborhood’s Small Sparks Fund provides matching dollars for neighborhood-initiated projects that promote community engagement. Informal or grassroots community groups can request up to $1,000 to help enhance their Spring Clean activities with funding for publicity, planting materials, or special cleanup supplies, to name a few. The deadline for applications is six weeks before a planned cleanup event. For information on the application process, visit seattle.gov/neighborhoods/nmf/smallsparks.htm.

Spring Clean is a partnership between Seattle residents and Seattle Public Utilities, Seattle Parks and Recreation, the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods, and the Seattle Department of Transportation.
