Kitchen Compost Container Giveaway Today

kitcatchbucketLast year, fans at Safeco Field helped recycle or compost more than 90 percent of their waste.

To recognize their efforts, Seattle Public Utilities and the Seattle Mariners are offering free kitchen compost containers to Seattle residents to help store and carry kitchen scraps to their food and yard waste carts.

Today, Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at 10 a.m. the first 600 Seattle residents who pledge to recycle and compost will receive a special Collector’s Edition Seattle Mariners Kitchen Caddy at the following locations:

Lake City Neighborhood Service Center at 12525 28th Avenue Northeast, Seattle, WA 98125

Ballard Neighborhood Service Center at 5604 22nd Avenue Northwest, Seattle, WA 98107

Recology – CleanScapes – 117 S. Main St, Suite 300, Seattle, WA 98104

All locations close at 5 pm.

Supplies are limited to the first 600 Seattle residents. The giveaway is limited to one kitchen container per Seattle household.

As of January 1, 2015, food waste is no longer allowed in Seattle’s garbage.

Paper and compostable bags, kitchen caddys and other reusable containers are easy ways to help store and carry kitchen scraps to your food and yard waste cart.
