With the arrival of warm weather, it’s a good time to tune up your outdoor watering system and avoid costly leaks. Follow these money-saving tune-up tips:
Check your hose for breaks, replace worn washers and make sure the seal is tight between your hose and spigot and hose and sprayer.
Use soaker hoses and drip irrigation to water your plants without wasting water.
If you have an automatic sprinkler system, inspect it monthly. Check for leaks, broken or clogged heads, or misdirected spray. If you don’t have the know-how, hire a professional to do a system check for you.
Look for unusually green or wet spots in your lawn, which may point to an underground leak.
